If all goes well, Lou Curtiss’ recordings of Roscoe Holcomb will be released by the end of 2015. The LP (and maybe CD) release will feature Holcomb’s live set at the 1972 San Diego State Folk Festival and will be released by the wonderful Tompkins Square label. The set featured Roscoe’s signature “high lonesome sound” vocal glory as well ask his remarkable picking’ on banjo & guitar. The release will also feature an epic, one of a kind duet with Jean Ritchie. This great news isn’t fully confirmed yet, but it’s looking like it likely will happen. This will be one very excellent record.
Now this will be something. I can’t wait.
